Photographed at the Tahiti Nui First International Dance Competition held in Honolulu, March 2003. Dancers from across Hawaii and the mainland compete in this colorful, fast moving, musical, and informative segment from Try Stay, cable TV series shot, produced and aired exclusively in Hawaii, principally for local residents.

she is amazing! what fantastic movements…
Stop hating! No one is better than the other one. It’s to different dancestyles, and you can’t compare them, and say the other one sucks and the other is better. it’s disrespectfull, not only towards the culture and the islands, but towards the dancers who loves their culture, or who admires some one elses and shows their respect, and love for it by dancing!
your very good. I do some tahitian dancing and I’m black lol. But I’m a beginner , this video was helpful
Island guuurl… treat ‘em like a queennn
I say it depends.
Just like anybody of Hawaiian blood can’t do Hula.
soloist???
the lil boy did it cute but it kinda scaredme too
the ass-shakin competition!
you need culture darlin, please reed and know the culture. blesses
lol
you mean hip movements, NOT ass shaking. It may look like it is the ass, but it’s the hips and the speed of your feet that makes the ‘’shake”=)
3:27 was the BEST! haha;
actually more traditional style dancing is more relaxed slight gap in between the feet and you can pick up your heels…more modern style is feet together and heels planted.
very beautiful.
Wow, you would have to be in good shape for this. I looks like a cross between ballet, aerobics, gymnastics, and yoga.
You covered a lot here, nice video.
Thanks
Ray
she’s pretty. tahitian dancing looks good when women do it. but when men dance tahitian, i just dont know. lol
She is a beautiful dancer. Keep up the good work!
ooh, really? I thought it was the other way around, like traditional, feet always flat on the ground and modern, up on the toes=)
muy bellas danzantes llenas de glamour
not quite.
Tahitian girls are beautiful
Hmmn…I know a veteran whose sister has won every solo at Heiva I Tahiti, and he’s curently living in France, directing his own group, and he said it was the other way around…I guess Tahitian dancers in Tahiti does it diffrently than those in the states…
Hmm sorta reminds me of Arabian belly dancing. I love exotic sexy women, the love making is different and unique with each and every single one.
oh my.. the kids r soooo cute..
Beautiful scenery and a girl
